Latest Site Information (Updated December 1, 2011)

Environmental:

1. Mastic Trail and Reserve- OPEN. There are sections of the trail that are prone to flooding following heavy rain, but at as of this update it is dry. A composting toilet facility is located just north of the southern trailhead. please follow the posted instructions if using this facility. Hikers are advised to familiarize themselves with Maiden Plum and Manchineel and to avoid these plants.
2. Governor Gore Bird Sanctuary- OPEN. Please take care not to litter or dump garbage of any sort, and do not feed the wildlife. Please ensure the gate is kept closed.
3. Heritage Beach-OPEN. Please use the roadside garbage bin provided, or take litter home.
4. Central Mangrove Wetlands-OPEN; accessible only by boat. Please see relevant marine park laws.
5. Salina Reserve-CLOSED, no access.
6. Booby Pond Nature Reserve-OPEN.
7. Brac Parrot Reserve -OPEN.
8. The Splits-CLOSED, no access.

Historic:

1. Jackson Wall Historic Site-CLOSED, destroyed by Hurricane Ivan.
2. Mission House Historic Site -CLOSED, August and September, reopening on Monday, October 3, 2011. Please note our NEW operating hours will be:
   • ·         Monday to Friday
   • ·         9am to 1pm (with the last tour at 12pm)
   • ·         Reservation are recommended.
   • If you require urgent attention, please call 749-1123.
3. Miss Izzy’s Schoolhouse- destroyed by Hurricane Ivan, site is CLOSED.
4. Watler Cemetery-OPEN.
5. Dr. Roy’s Ironshore-OPEN.
6. Fort George-OPEN.
7. Bodden Town Guardhouse Park-OPEN.
8. Lighthouse Park-OPEN.
9. Savannah Schoolhouse-OPEN by appointment.
10. Eldemire House-Not yet open to the public; repairs are in progress.
11. Nurse Leila's Home-Not presently open to the public.

Species Preservation:

1. Blue Iguana Recovery Programme- OPEN. Behind the scenes tour and guided nature trail available daily except Sundays at 11:00.

Visitors Centres:

1. Grand Cayman- George Town; OPEN, 9am-5:00pm M-F, 558 S. Church St., South Sound Family Park.  
2. Grand Cayman- Bodden Town Mission House - OPEN. Hours: 9am-5:30pm, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, 63 Gun Square Rd., Bodden Town. 
3. Little Cayman- OPEN, 3PM - 5PM M-F.
4. Cayman Brac- CLOSED.
