Preserving Our Heritage for now and forever… be a part of it… be a Volunteer! While the work of the Trust is largely coordinated by a small core of Staff, much of the interesting and interactive work in the field is actually done by Volunteers! Trust Volunteers are a group of dedicated and caring
individuals with varying skills, talents, time and resources who together
achieve great
things for heritage preservation. Volunteer service at the Trust occurs in all forms and degrees - it can be as structured, frequent, monumental, academic as you wish! You can serve with a group on a committee or individually carry-out a project or task, assist once a week or once a year, fund-raise one hundred or one hundred thousand dollars, research and document a historic structure for a preservation proposal or fold and label a newsletter for a membership mailing - whatever your talents, interests, skills or available time may be, there is some thing for everyone to do at the Trust ! All you have to do is contact any staff member and just let us know that you want to get involved. We hope to see you soon ! Here are some Projects and Programs that really need volunteer assistance: • Youth Education Development - assist with developing, converting or up-grading presentation materials (computer-aided design and editing skills) and/or lead field trips or make classroom presentations (no previous experience required) • Native Plant Joint Initiative - get involved with locating, rescuing, and propagating rare native plants • Mastic Trail – assist in improving this nature trail with installing new signs and clearing a loop trail • Historic Building Restoration Projects – assist with fundraising efforts, documentation, material retrieval or replicating traditional building skills and techniques • Ft George Heritage Park – assist with up-grading interpretive signs and the landscaping at Ft. George Heritage Park • Membership Services – help recruit and correspond with our members • Fundraising and Special Events – help man public education events and fund-raising activities and bring along your new ideas, organizing and creative skills and ticket salesmanship • General Clerical and Administrative skills are always needed – help with mailings, database maintenance, and various office and/or computer based tasks |
